Digital Predestination

Shifting from deterministic to non-deterministic

Historically computers were almost entirely deterministic. What this means practically speaking is when computers have run code, save for errors or bugs, while working through it the same inputs would lead to the same outputs. More particularly it was predictable as computers would follow the laws built into them and physics to reach expected outcomes.

This is no longer the case. As artificial intelligence/machine learning take larger and larger roles in computers they will begin to behave non-deterministically. That is the math and rules based system will be replaced by an opaque latent space world where predictability, at least in the short run, is reduced.

I hope this does not lead to negative unintended consequences.
